Elder Jarris Shaw is a powerful preacher, prolific psalmist, and tenacious teacher of the word of God! He was raised in the church by a single mother, Ms. Kimberlyn Shaw and was known to preach even as a little boy from his great-grand parent’s porch to crowds of people who would gather to hear him speak. As he grew older, Elder Shaw became famed as a soloist in churches and other arenas. His musical accomplishments include performing for the Coca-Cola Company in honor of Bishop Desmond Tutu and Ambassador Andrew Young, performing on the soundtrack for Paramount’s “Fighting Temptations,” and becoming baritone quartet member in the Morehouse College Quartet as well as a soloist in the Morehouse College Glee Club. He has also provided background vocals for many of gospel music’s greatest!
Although Elder Shaw received his calling to the ministry at an early age, he waited until God told him to step out into the vineyard. That day was September 28, 2003 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, where he served as Minister of Music under the leadership of Pastor Timothy Flemming Sr. Soon after Elder Shaw was ordained into the Gospel Ministry, he begin serving wherever needed. He has since been appointed to the Concessions Committee in the National Baptist Convention, USA Inc., and the Associate Pastor of Trinity Tabernacle under the pastorate of Rev. Portia Wills Lee, M.Div. He was later ordained as an Elder in the Lord’s Church under the apostolic covering of Dr. B. Dwayne Hardin and Millennium Masters. He is the founder of J. Shaw Ministries and The GOD Encounter, which is a monthly service that caters to those seeking a deeper knowledge and experience with God through intimate worship and practical revelatory teaching. Elder Shaw's message can now be seen on a weekly television broadcast in over 30 million homes in the U.S. on the Now Television Network, and daily devotionals on Facebook and other social media sites. He is the husband of Mrs. LaNida Shaw, and father to Zaria Williams.
